PLANNING BOARD PUBLISHES REVISED VERSION OF DRAFT LAND USE PLAN
On January 14, 2015, the Puerto Rico Planning Board issued a Notice of Public Hearings on the adoption of the proposed Land Use Plan (the “Plan”). The hearings on the Plan will subject to public discussion its Report (“memorial” in Spanish) dated December 19, 2015, and the proposed Land Use Classification Map. The hearings are scheduled from February 2 to 6, 2015, in the municipalities of Arecibo, Ponce, Mayagüez, Humacao and San Juan, respectively.
The Plan, when approved, will guide land development permits and approval processes according to the soil classifications therein included pursuant to Act No. 550-2004, thus determining the categories of projects, new and existing, that can be developed or modified within a land parcel. These determinations are of utmost important to landowners envisioning development or re-development projects, and/or expansions of operations and alternate future uses of a particular property.
Written comments to the Plan can be submitted on or before February 23, 2015. If your organization is interested in obtaining further details and/or submitting comments to the proposed Plan, please contact us. Also, if you know anyone that would like to receive the FGR Environmental Watch, please feel free to forward this newsletter or send us an e-mail in order to be added as recipient.
